Spring has sprung!

I did my favorite springtime activity this afternoon...I planted my flowers for the deck and the front stoop. It's silly how excited I get about this but I absolutely love it.

I decided to do something different this year, I tried to display some restraint when purchasing my flowers. I see all the different types of flowers and find myself wanting to buy one of each kind. When I get home I discover there is no possible way to stuff all of the flowers I bought in my pots but I do anyways and half of them end up dieing. So, I decided to keep it to impatiens and one other variety for the big pots with a big spray thing in the middle.

Here are some pictures of the front stoop.

And a new addition this year to the front stoop are Tiger Lilies. My mom and dad always had these on the farm when we were growing up and I love them. They are probably pretty low maintenance because we never seemed to pay much attention to them and they came back every year. Hopefully they like their new home!

Here are some pictures of the deck on the back of our house. I love the little baskets on the railing. Again, they were too full last year and only one of the 20 flowers I planted survived and dominated. I did Vincas on the sides and some other thing in the middle that is suppose to do well in baskets. (You can see how up I am on my flower name remembering ability...HA!! I'm too lazy to go down and look at the name on the tag)

In this photo you can kinda see my patio tomato and sweet basil plant on the right. I did tomatoes in the pots a few years back and didn't have much luck with anything but the official "patio" tomato type. I found some this year and decided to give it a whirl in the biggest pot I own! I'll let you know how it goes!
