Saturday

Today we're doing some much needed home improvement projects. First up...the master bedroom. UGH. We are soooo sick of the randomness and complete ugliness of this room. Let me just start with where all of these items came from and you'll begin to appreciate (other than just seeing how horrible-looking all of this is) why it's time to update.
Here we have a view of the room (with samples of paint on the walls...classy, I know):

I tried to crop out Patrick's dresser (it had a week's worth of clothes piled on it...it was a long week, he's forgiven!). The dresser he's using, along with 2 nightstands and 2 pineapple lamps, were given to us by his mom and dad. Not sure how old the furniture is but pretty sure it was the first bedroom set they purchased in the 70's. It's had a good run.

Here is a good close-up of the lamp and nightstand combo, sigh...it even has the added bonus that when you pull out the drawer, it falls because the cross piece that holds the drawer up is busted:

Okay, next is the dresser that I've been using, [insert another sigh] my mom purchased it on a garage sale when my brother was little. Yet again, this would have been in the 70's. She painted it a nice yellow. I took it to college and ended up painting it white and putting new handles on it.

So, we've picked out a dark cherry bedroom set at my favorite store, Homemaker's Furniture. If you can't find what you're looking for at Homemaker's, you probably won't find it. The place is massive. Anyways, we found a nice set and topped it off with a new mattress! It won't be in until May 16th so we'll have to anxiously await it's arrival.

I've been instructed by the "master painter" that I'm not to touch a brush. I've begged to help but he insists that he wants to do it. He openly admitted that he doesn't want me to screw something up. I get a little impatient and sloppy so it's probably best that I'm blogging instead. I really like the color so far and I think it will look nice with the bedspread we picked out.

Well, here's the master painter working hard (I may be biased but I think I found a hunk of a painter!):

This is getting to be a long post....last thing about this....here is a photo of the matching pillow to the bedding we purchased. It's a lovely stripe! The blue pillow is an accent pillow that came with the set and the brown material is the curtain I have picked out. I think they coordinate well! If you don't agree, just call your significant other in the room to laugh out loud at our bad taste and keep your comments to yourself, I'll never know...ha, ha!!!

More bump chronicles to come. My painter will convert to photographer this evening at some point!!
